It's no secret that I am a single mom and that I have been praying and asking God to bring someone into my life who would be a blessing. But of course, God knows best, and He needed to teach my heart a few things first. He had to prepare me for the blessing that He wanted to give to me, and I needed to be willing to listen, to learn, and to be patient. Because the blessings that God brings, are never small, they are huge and they change your life!
Over the past few months God has been working with my heart and life, He has been molding me to be better so that I can handle such a great blessing without blowing it! I have always struggled with my heart being ruled by emotions instead of truth, and in the process I have given my heart away to ones who God did not choose. During the transformation process God challenged me to say no to things that were not of him. At first it hurt, I really disliked having to say no to something or someone that I cared about. But once I did what God was asking me to do, my life started turning around. Each time I let go or said no and followed God's will instead, it seemed I received a blessing in return. One of the most valuable gifts that I have received because of obedience is peace. I have been able to walk through things that would have debilitated me previously, but now I have peace, and I trust that God's plan is best for me.

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Psalm 37:4 (NLT)
I have prayed with fingers crossed, clenched teeth, and cringing face saying "Lord I want your will" but not totally meaning it. I have told God "I know better" when there was something I wanted and didn't trust that He would give it to me. I don't know where the perception came from that says God's will is always boring, or takes too much time. That is not true! God's will is God's will, it is what He knows is the absolute best for you! God has the ability to look at your future, He knows what is coming, and He wants to give you everything that you desire. There is just one key to it. You have to live a life that is obedient to Christ. You cannot say "I love you Lord" and then turn around and do whatever you want, or indulge in sin that makes you feel better. You cannot say "I trust you God" and then sit alone in your room eating a pound of chocolate by yourself because your stressed.
If you desire your life to be different, change it! Better yet, let God change it, let Jesus love you, and step up to the plate. If a difficult circumstance presents itself, say "I trust you God, your plan is better than mine." Then, say "God my will is for _______ to happen in this circumstance." After that you have to walk as though you honestly trust God is going to come through for you. You have to believe! These past few weeks have been totally filled with blessings. Each time I gave something over to God, and said "It's yours, whatever you do I trust is your absolute best for me!" God turned around and granted me blessings.

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. - Ephesians 3:20 (MSG)
Once God blesses you with something it would be easy to mess it up by trying to take control over it. It would be very easy to mess it up by being disobedient to God. God has recently blessed me with the man of my dreams. He is kind, considerate, generous, gentle, loving, patient, and has so much self-control. Each time he and I talk it is a new blessing. There are so many cool aspects to the way we met, but the one that means most to me is that each of us was praying specifically about the other before we were introduced.
When Solomon (David's son) became King, God wanted to give Solomon the same blessings that he gave to David. He told him that if he would obey God then he would be blessed.

“As for you, if you will follow me with integrity and godliness, as David your father did, obeying all my commands, decrees, and regulations, 5 then I will establish the throne of your dynasty over Israel forever. For I made this promise to your father, David: ‘One of your descendants will always sit on the throne of Israel.’ 1 Kings 9: 4-5 (NLT)
Lord we desire to have your blessings rain down on us. I ask that you would draw us closer to you, that we would know what it means to obey. Help us to learn from our mistakes, from our past. Let us run toward your will and not be distracted by things and people around us. Help us to pray with belief, and then step out and walk as though our prayer has already come true. I thank you Lord for your generosity, and for your desire to give us what we ask for. Thank you for giving us far more than we could even dream of. We love you Lord. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen
